Hello Chaparral Families,

Welcome back to an amazing year ahead at Chaparral Elementary!  My name is Molly Boyer and it is my pleasure to join the Chaparral family for the 2023-2024 school year. I started my educational career as a cross-categorical special education kindergarten teacher. I then began my journey leading staff as an instructional coach and then transitioned into my most recent position as assistant principal, all of which have been in the Washington Elementary School District. For the 2023-2024 school year, I am excited to serve as Chaparral’s principal and lead the staff and students to continued success and growth. Our mission and vision stated below will drive our work together.

Mission: The mission of Chaparral Elementary School is high achievement of all students. All Chaparral students will perform with high standards of POSITIVE BEHAVIOR through their respect, responsibility, and productivity.

Vision: Chaparral strives to create high levels of learning in a welcoming, collaborative environment that prepares ALL students for our rapidly changing world.

As I began my transition to Chaparral, I’ve engaged in multiple conversations with staff, students, parents and community members about what makes Chaparral such a wonderful place to be. I’ve heard things like “an outstanding sense of community and involvement,” “ongoing collaboration and support,” “student-focused,” “high academic and social emotional growth and success,” ”positive relationships,”  and “all means all.” These statements have rung true as I’ve analyzed student academic data, parent and student surveys, attendance and behavior data and nationally awarded titles such as becoming a Professional Learning Community (PLC) model school. This community and school should be so proud of their commitment to student learning! We are looking forward to continual contribution to student success and to celebrate the many achievements accomplished thus far. Chaparral was established in 1973, making this the 50^th year and as you can see, is most definitely something to celebrate. This year’s school theme is D.R.E.A.M.: Decades of Relationships, Education, Achievements and Memories!

Below you will find some important information to start our year out safely and successfully:

Meet the Teacher Night:

Our Meet the Teacher Night will be held on Thursday, August 3^rd from 5:00pm-7:00pm.  Class lists will be posted on the fence out front of the school.

Arrival at School:

The first day of school for students is Monday, August 7^th.  The gates will open at 8:00am and students will go directly to their classrooms.  We will have plenty of staff around campus to ensure students get to where they need to be. 

Parents have the option to park and walk their children up to the gates or drive through the drop off lane.  If you are coming through the drop off lane, please allow one of our staff members to open your car door and assist your child out of the car.  Parents need to remain in their cars and all students should exit from the passenger sides of the vehicles to keep children safe as well as keep the car line moving.  Thank you for your assistance with this.

•          Please note that you cannot make a left hand turn into the parking lot between 7:45am-8:30am.

Dismissal:

Dismissal time is at 3:15pm each day except Wednesday when students are released at 1:45pm.  It is important to be on time to pick up your children.  At Meet the Teacher Night, please inform your child’s teacher how your children will be getting home each day.

Please be aware of all the posted NO PARKING SIGNS along the streets around the school.  We are in the middle of the community and it is important to only park where allowed.  This allows our school neighbors to safely pull in and out of their driveways, as well as keep the traffic moving smoothly.

Kidspace:

If you are needing before or after school care for your child, please visit and register your child online.  Space is very limited on our campus and tends to fill up quickly.

The Chaparral office is open from 7:45am-4:15pm daily except Wednesdays when the office is open until 3:15pm.

Hola Familias de Chaparral,

¡Bienvenidos de nuevo a un año increíble por delante en la Escuela Chaparral! Mi nombre es Molly Boyer y es un placer unirme a la familia Chaparral para el año escolar 2023-2024. Comencé mi carrera educativa como maestra de kindergarten de educación especial de categorías múltiples. Luego comencé mi trayectoria liderando al personal como coordinadora de enseñanza y luego pasé a mi puesto más reciente como asistente directora, todos los cuales han sido en el Distrito Escolar Washington. Para el año escolar 2023-2024, estoy emocionada de servir como directora de Chaparral y guiar al personal y a los estudiantes hacia el éxito y el crecimiento continuo. Nuestra misión y visión, que se detallan a continuación, impulsarán nuestro trabajo conjunto.

Misión: La misión de la Escuela Chaparral es el alto rendimiento de todos los estudiantes. Todos los estudiantes de Chaparral se desempeñarán con altos estándares de COMPORTAMIENTO POSITIVO a través de su respeto, responsabilidad y productividad.

Visión: Chaparral se esfuerza por crear altos niveles de aprendizaje en un ambiente acogedor y colaborativo que prepara a TODOS los estudiantes para nuestro mundo que cambia rápidamente. 

Cuando comencé mi transición a Chaparral, participé en múltiples conversaciones con el personal, los estudiantes, los padres y los miembros de la comunidad sobre lo que hace de Chaparral un lugar tan maravilloso para estar. Escuché cosas como "un sentido sobresaliente de comunidad y participación", "colaboración y apoyo continuo", "centrarse en el estudiante", "alto crecimiento y éxito académico y social emocional", "relaciones positivas" y "todo significa todo". Estas afirmaciones han resultado verdaderas al analizar los datos académicos de los estudiantes, las encuestas de padres y estudiantes, los datos de asistencia y comportamiento y los títulos otorgados a nivel nacional, como convertirse en una escuela modelo de la Comunidad de Aprendizaje Profesional (PLC por sus siglas en inglés). ¡Esta comunidad y escuela deberían estar muy orgullosas de su compromiso con el aprendizaje de los estudiantes! Esperamos contribuir continuamente al éxito de los estudiantes y celebrar los muchos logros alcanzados hasta ahora. Chaparral se estableció en 1973, por lo que este es el año número 50 y, como pueden ver, definitivamente es algo para celebrar. A continuación, encontrarán información importante para comenzar nuestro año de manera segura y exitosa:

Noche de Conocer al Maestro:

Nuestra Noche de Conocer al Maestro se llevará a cabo el jueves 3 de agosto de 5:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m. Las listas de clases se publicarán en la cerca frente a la escuela.

Llegada a la Escuela:

El primer día de clases para los estudiantes es el lunes 7 de agosto. Los portones se abrirán a las 8:00 a.m. y los estudiantes irán directamente a sus salones de clase. Tendremos mucho personal en toda la propiedad escolar para asegurar que los estudiantes lleguen a donde deben estar.

Los padres tienen la opción de estacionarse y caminar con sus hijos hasta los portones o conducir a través del carril de dejar a los estudiantes. Si vienen por el carril de dejar, permitan que uno de los miembros de nuestro personal abra la puerta de sus vehículos y ayude a sus hijos a salir de los vehículos. Los padres deben permanecer en sus vehículos y todos los estudiantes deben salir por el lado del pasajero de los vehículos para mantener a los niños seguros y mantener la línea de vehículos en movimiento. Gracias por su ayuda con esto.

Despido:

Si vienen por el carril de recoger, permitan que uno de los miembros de nuestro personal abra la puerta de sus vehículos y ayude a sus hijos a subir a los vehículos. Los padres deben permanecer en sus vehículos y todos los estudiantes deben ingresar por el lado del pasajero de los vehículos para mantener a los niños seguros y mantener la línea de vehículos en movimiento. Favor de estar al pendiente de todos los SEÑALAMIENTOS DE NO ESTACIONARSE publicados a lo largo de las calles alrededor de la escuela. Estamos dentro de la comunidad y es importante estacionarse solo donde esté permitido.

Esto permite que nuestros vecinos de la escuela entren y salgan de las entradas para sus vehículos de manera segura, así como también mantener el tráfico en movimiento sin problemas.

Si necesitan cuidado antes o después de la escuela para sus hijos, visiten www.wesdschools.org e inscriban a sus hijos en línea. El espacio es muy limitado en nuestra propiedad escolar y tiende a llenarse rápidamente.
